Long time ago, I tested a plugin which made possible the connection between PHPBB and Wordpress.
This worked very well and I was happy with this solution.
But one day, the version 2.8 of wordpress showed up. and the plugin didn’t work anymore.
I don’t remeber when it was, something like february.
But these days I was angry. The team of the original plugin didn’t release a new version of the plugin that was working with wordpress 2.8.
So, I was determinated to create thsi plugin by myself. I read many documentations in the Wordpress Codex. Many Tutorials and other websites.
In 20 days, I got it working again. but for my own use, and I made many ugly modifications to the source of phpBB.
I didn’t know that there was no official plugin anymore. When I saw it last week. I knew that I could make the new plugin.
And now it’s done. The plugin is in the official Wordpress repository here : http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/phpbb-single-sign-on/
Or you can search for “phpbb single sign on” in the admin area of your Wordpress blog to add it.
Don’t forget to run the installer and to set the path to phpbb.
The phpbb folder has to be within the wordpress folder, preferably in “forum/”.
You need to add the slash at the end of the path.
For support, you can send me a mail with the contact form or just post a comment.
A support forum will be created soon (with this new plugin ;-))
P.S. the contact form had some problems lately. they’re corrected now, I ask to the person who sent me a message to send it again. or I won’t be able to answer them.
Hello,
just want to thank you for this great plugin.
I also was about to use onepress untill they dropped the support for phpbb3…..
And i also was looking at wp-united as an alternative…..
Now i will use this plugin !

Bonjour,
Cordialement benimabe.

I tried this plugin, but got stuck at this point:
This setting is located at: “Client Communication” » “Authentication” » “Select an authentication method” » “Op”
Because there is no “client communication” menu option.
WP 2.8.5
phpBB 3.0.5
Nice try though…

Hi.
This menu option is not hidden, it’s in the phpBB administration page.
More precisely in the left column of the first administration page.
Hope this helps you.

Bonsoir,
blog : http://www.monblog.com/blog/
forum : http://www.monblog.com/forum/
forum : http://www.monblog.com/
blog : http://www.monblog.com/blog/
Merci à toi d’utiliser mon plugin.

blog : http://www.monblog.com/blog/
forum : http://www.monblog.com/forum/
est-ce possible?!
Merci encore et bonne continuation.
Benimabe.

Hi i’ve installed this plugin correctly with Wordpress 2.8.4 and PhpBB 3.0.6 installed version.
My configuration is:
blog: http://www.myblog.it
forum: http://www.myblog.it/forum
Both db_extension was stored in single MySQL database.
(name’s blog it’s an example)
Now when i try to login my admin account into phpBB, the login page shown a blank page.
I must recover original common.php file to shown again the logging page correctly.
Also the login page of Wordpress shown an error when i try to logging in with my user.
I must to rename the plugin folder to disable the plugin and recover the normally login function of wordpress.
Now i come back to original phpBB files, re-uploaded by FTP, and then i try to logging in.
I retrieve always an error: I can to log in but when i click, to open another page i come not connected!
When i try to open Administrator Control Panel, the system shown that i haven’t more the admin permission!!!
I’ve try to recover an recent database backup but the problem was not resolved back.

Hello there, I am having some problems with this plugin, similar to one above..
I’m using phpbb3 3.0.6 and wp 2.8.6.
There isn’t the choice of “Op” in the authentication method on phpbb. Can you recommend a solution to this or re-package the plugin please?
Many thanks,
Rick

Sorry for the very long response time, I think you should try to flush all your cookies.
this may happen when you install this plugin.
please tell me if it happens again.

If the option doesn’t appear on the menu, you have to go in the wordpress panel, in the PHPBB single sign on options and click on install the files.
thanks to check

Hello,
frankly, I don’t know why this happens.
but what I can say, is that when you log in wordpress. it changes the password on phpbb to be the same as in wordpress.
and when you log into phpbb it resets the password of wordpress.
this is because, imagine, a user is connected on your blog, he wants to change his password. the password is only applied to the blog.
the next time he connects. the new password will be applied to PHPBB.
I hope this information helps you.

There is no other way to use this plugin so i need to have the wp_bb method.
