Hi to all !
It’s been a long time !
I’ve been busy on an exciting project these days. I’ll tell you about it as soon as it is released.
But let’s talk about the main subject of this post : The new Single Sign On plugin !
This new 0.6 version took me many hours to get it to work.
The new functionnalities are :
- Bugfix : Captcha problem if the user makes 3 errors in his password in phpbb (reported by Ramon Fincken http://www.ramonfincken.com/)
- Bugfix : op_userexists function doesn’t exist (patch proposed by Brian Pan)
- Bugfix : Blank user creation when logging in the first time from phpbb (Brian Pan tracked down the bug and I made the little fix)
- Added options to the control Panel
- Now Compatible with Onepress, totally new function names.
Again, the Control Panel was redesigned a bit.
Now You have the installation instructions that are integrated within the configuration panel.
When the module isn’t correctly configured, you have an information bar on the top of the admin. (like akismet)
So you won’t forget to configure it.
Some functions didn’t work correctly and there were a few glitches. Now it’s much better.
For the next version : Compatibility Tester
This function will check if all your plugins are compatible with phpbb.
And this, no matter if you created a new plugin yourself.
It’s a dynamic function that is not based on a static list.
See you for the next version

Is this backwards compatible with phpbb2? I assume it isn’t but I figured I’d ask anyways.

Hi,
Great plugin but…
I have a problem. Something in your common.php is making my forum quotes are stored badly: \” instead of “.
Is the plugin, because if I deactivate it, all returns to the correct way.
How could I solve this?

Hi Erik,
I’m sorry but the plugin is not backwards compatible with phpbb2.
The version 3 is a complete rewrite, and it doesn’t manage user login the same way.

hi deCorvett,
I finally found where the problem comes from.
I corrected this and released the version 0.6.2 with this bugfix.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I’ve run into a problem when installing the plugin. After uploading the files (I did automatic install through wordpress) I click to activate and I get the following message and my site becomes unstable, returning the following message:
WordPress database error Table ‘xxxxxxxxxx.0config’ doesn’t exist for query SELECT config_value FROM 0config WHERE config_name = ‘auth_method’ made by require_once, require_once, require_once, require_once, do_action, call_user_func_array, wpbb_admin_warnings, wpbb_run_test, wpbb_get_current_auth_method
xxxxxxxxxx = WordPress database name
Thanks for any help.

I just wanted to drop by and tell you that I think you’re doing an awesome job with this plugin! We are going to be using it on a major site being released later next month and finding this plugin has saved us a lot of coding time so that we can concentrate on other features provided by the site.
I’ll be looking forward to future versions of the plugin and if you ever find yourself without time to continue support just let us know and we’ll keep it up until you have time to come back – in the interim after the site has launched I will definitely be dropping back by to throw some donations your way!

Thank you,
but even if i’m very busy with some personal projects. I try to find time to develop this plugin.
and you can check in the code, even if I commented some parts of the code. it’s very obscure.
I don’t want to say that I’m a genius, but sometimes, I don’t remember myself why I put a code here or there.
but I’ll keep your adress and tell you if once I need this help.

I didn’t mean to imply that you weren’t able to keep up with it yourself! You’re doing a great job. I just meant that I think this is an important enough plugin that if you ever couldn’t, I would hope that there was somebody who could continue.
I apologize if that came across wrong in any way. :)
